Rainy-Day Seoul: Two Indoor-First Plans
Choose one compact indoor area, keep outdoor transfers short and retain a flexible option if the weather improves.
Option A: COEX and Starfield Library
Use COEX as one indoor base for browsing, a meal and a break. Allow roughly 2–3 hours depending on your interests. Start at Starfield Library, then use the mall directory to choose the next stop. Shops, ticketed activities and events have separate schedules.
Read the COEX place guide →Bongeunsa is an optional outdoor addition
Add Bongeunsa only when conditions improve and you are comfortable walking outdoors. Its grounds are not a fully indoor attraction. Respect religious services and visitor instructions. In heavy rain, stay with the indoor plan rather than forcing this stop.

Choose a museum-led half day when you prefer art and history to shopping. Pick a few galleries and allow rest time rather than trying to see everything. The permanent exhibition is free; special exhibitions may charge separately. Confirm current visitor information and opening arrangements before leaving.
Plan the exposed part of the journey
An indoor destination still requires a station exit and a walk to its entrance. Check that part of the route, carry a suitable umbrella and allow extra time for wet surfaces. Avoid describing a whole day as rain-proof because one attraction is indoors.
Heavy-weather fallback
Check local weather and transport notices. If conditions are severe, staying near your accommodation can be the better plan. Avoid exposed river walks and keep booked activities flexible according to the venue’s cancellation terms. Our suggested time blocks are not weather or transport forecasts.
