Where to stay

Myeongdong, Hongdae or Gangnam: Where to Stay

Choose a neighbourhood around your actual itinerary, airport arrival and evening return, rather than a city-wide hotel ranking.

Plan an airport journeyExplore places

Myeongdong: central shopping and an easy first-day plan

Consider this area when your trip includes beauty shopping, central streets and a short visit around Myeongdong Cathedral. Map each candidate hotel’s entrance, not only its neighbourhood label. Some streets are busy, so ask about room location if you value a quiet night.

Hongdae: cafés and evenings out

Consider Hongdae when café browsing and an active evening are priorities. Check the exact distance from Hongik University Station and how you will return late at night. A quieter side street may suit you better than a room directly above a busy nightlife street.

Gangnam and COEX: choose the right sub-area

Consider the COEX/Samseong area when indoor shopping and nearby venues dominate your plan. Do not assume every Gangnam hotel is near COEX. Check journeys to your palace or market day and compare transfers before booking.

Jongno: a culture-focused alternative

If palace visits, traditional streets and Insadong are central to your trip, include Jongno in your shortlist. Compare the walk between your hotel and the specific station you will use. Check attraction opening days before choosing which day to spend here.

Use this hotel comparison checklist

For each hotel, check the airport journey, station exit, final walk, lift access, luggage storage, late check-in and one evening return. Compare total journey convenience across all your days. Neighbourhood descriptions are editorial suggestions, not verified hotel quality ratings.
